Laura became a Level 1 certified CrossFit trainer in 2016. Rewind to December of 2012, Laura was watching ESPN and came across a replay of the CrossFit games. Laura had always been an athlete- playing soccer, field hockey, and softball.

Then real life, post collegiate athletics, caught up to Laura just like the rest of us and she became out of shape. She tried spin classes and kickboxing as a routine but that quickly got boring. The next week after watching the games Laura walked through CFPC’s doors as a member and her life has never been the same since.

Her first ever CrossFit workout was Fight Gone Bad. She was hooked after that first class – the energy, the loud music, the encouraging atmosphere made her want to come back as soon as possible. Laura fell in love with weightlifting, and couldn’t wait until I could do things like pull ups and toes to bar. Fast forward 5 years and Laura is in the best shape of her life; She has found a fitness program that she is definitely not bored of! When asked why she decided to become a coach she says, “I want to share my passion for CrossFit with others.Coaching has made me a better athlete and the members of CFPC make me look forward to the days that I teach classes.”

In 2015, Carolina became a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer and has since devoted most of her time to coaching and training. “It is more than just a workout, it’s a lifestyle and the support that everyone gives is more than I ever expected,” says Herrera.

In 2013, aware of Carolina’s passion for fitness, her younger sister introduced her to CrossFit. Carolina went to the Crossfit Regionals that year without knowing much about the sport. She can still recall the infectious energy she experienced that day. Workouts she had never heard of and movements she never dare try before; Carolina came back wanting to be a part of this worldwide phenomenon. From that day on, she was hooked and has never looked back.

Being a high school and college athlete, she was always part of a team and Crossfit filled that void. A few weeks after returning from the 2013 Regionals, she joined Crossfit Port Chester and became part of the family.

When she’s not coaching, you can find Carolina training at CrossFit Port Chester. Her talent as born-to-be athlete was challenged by CrossFit from day one. “I love clean and jerks/snatches, but they are my most inconsistent lift,” says Herrera. Carolina continues to be a CF-L1 Trainer and is looking forward to sharing her love of Crossfit with you.
